Hello!
I’m Blanche. A vintage obsessive of the 30’s and 40’s. I grew up in a family mix of early Australian settlers, Military service members and the British middle class – the Chin up, Keep Calm and Carry On kind – where even after they immigrated as £10 “Poms”, the never waste, reuse, recycle, make do and mend attitude of living through WW1 and 2 was the norm.
On school holidays or weekends, it was long days on the farm under the guidance of one cheeky Great Gran-mother, who took us shooting for rabbits, helped us feed the cows, made the best ginger beer and could BAKE UP A STORM. God! she could bake. We picked and shelled peas, had pet magpies, swam in merky pools in the summer heat…we just LIVED.
And it was wonderful.
I continue to live on Victoria’s Gippsland coast, surrounded by green rolling hills, with two adorable children and two crazy cats after 6 years of living abroad and travelling far reach places.
I’m currently a Medic Student, a mature student. And this new challenge in my life is a real huge reward for me.
Im a talented dressmaker, seamstress, pattern maker and designer. I make a lot of my own Military uniforms that I can not source, along with my Vintage day/evening wear.
And best of all, my Gran mothers skills in baking has rubbed of on me. Oh! I can make a good cake.
